As you may know by now, Sparkle Apothecary has landed. Sparkle Apothecary is a line of magical products with the potential to heal, inspire and transform you. I spoke about my flower essences on a previous blog post. Hydrosols are made a completely different way, so let’s get into more details now.
Hydrosols are made from fresh plant material that is distilled using evaporation until you get all of the water extracted from the plant and some oils from the plant. They make fantastic aromatherapy products. They all have antimicrobial properties and many people use hydrosols or plant waters in the cosmetic industries for facial tonics, hair tonics, etc. They are safe for everyone but for topical use only. Additionally, I like to formulate my hydrosols to be used as room or car sprays. My hydrosols are great for anointing, spell work, and offerings. The products are available on my shop page for U.S. shipping, local pickup in Portland, or at La Sirena Botanica. The botanica is located at 1722 NE Alberta st in Portland.
Let’s meet the hydrosols!
Rose Petal Hydrosol smells like there’s a bouquet suddenly in the room. Roses have a long history in folk medicine and folk magic, making it a fantastic tool. Rose hydrosol is great for diety offerings, in glamour magic, love and romance spells. I love it for it’s protective and cleansing properties also. Rose petals are anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-microbial, and is safe for everyone including pets and children.
Red Cedar Hydrosol is made from steam distilling wild western red cedar tips. It is fiercely grounding, protective and deeply cleansing. Just like the rose hydrosol, you can use it for offerings, in protection, grounding, and cleansing spellwork. You can also use it for a facial tonic as it is antimicrobial.
