What are flower essences?
Flower essences contain the vibration or energetic essence of a flower. These are different from essential oils or aromatherapy. There is no physical plant material in the bottle. Sparkle Apothecary’s Flower Essences are made with holy water. The essence is preserved with brandy, a type of alcohol. The alcohol is less than the amount of alcohol in kombucha when dosed properly.

these are made when flower essences and gem essences are combined for a specific purpose. Sparkle Apothecary’s flower and gem essence blends that are currently offered are:

How do they all work?

Each of us an energetic body. Our energetic bodies emit a frequency or vibration. We turn to flower /gem essences when our energetic body, our vibration, needs support and balancing.
Each flower or gem has a slightly different vibration. People have come to identify which flower supports different emotional disturbances, though it is more of an art than a science. See below for which flowers support which concerns.
when we are suffering, in despair, or have issues we are growing through, our vibration is affected. Flower and gem essences will put us right again with their vibration, raising and balancing ours.
Often energetic issues will develop into physical concerns. Addressing the root cause with flower essences has a positive effect on all levels. This is especially true with people who consider themselves sensitive.
In short, flower essences work by raising our vibrations to the level and frequency emitted by the flower. It’s a powerful experience, and one should be selective on how and where they start on this path.

What do they smell like?
Flower essences are different than hydrosols, or essential oils. Both of those have physical plant material, while flower essences contain only the vibration of the flower.
both flower essences and gem essences smell like water. They taste slightly sweet due to the brandy the water is preserved in. They all smell and taste the same, but work very differently.
How do I use and store them?
Each one ounce bottle of flower essence comes in amber glass with a glass dropper. Dosage is more an art than a science, so it’s okay to follow your gut, but generally a starting dose is 2-5 drops twice a day.
You can take the dose by dropping it directly in your mouth, or in water. If you do not want to take it orally, an alternate is rubbing it into your skin. This is not traditional, but an optional way to work with the flower. Flower essences can also lend their energy to spells or rituals. Use it to anoint candles, tools, herbs or salts of your choice.
Flower essences can keep indefintely, and are best stored upright, and out of the sun. If you have a cool dark place like a cupboard or closet, that will be ideal.

Why use Brandy? Do you have non-alcohol essences?
Each one ounce bottle of flower essence comes with about 20 percent preservative, and the default is a pear brandy. Brandy is used because the essence keeps indefinitely, and no refrigeration or low-light storage is needed. Essences contain water, and any water, especially contaminated by someone’s mouth (when you use the dropper) can grow bacteria if not preserved.
If you are interested in a non-alcoholic gem essence, vegetable glycerine can replace the alcohol. This will keep about 6 months, and will require more awareness on where and how it is stored. It is a great choice for anyone in recovery or with an alcohol allergy.
The amount of alcohol in 1 1-oz bottle of essences is less than a bottle of kombucha. Therefore the essences can be used for children, pets, and adults. Please follow proper dosage instructions.
